Tips for making the word count

Abstracts have a strict word count of approximately 150 to 250 words depending on the journal. Therefore, after writing your abstract, you may find that you must cut out words before an abstract is complete. To cut out words, begin by removing extraneous words/phrases such as "moreover, therefore, thus, in contrast, on the other hand, importantly," and etc. Next, see if it is possible to combine any sentences (but don't make the sentences too long or run-ons), or omit unnecessary details. Always think back to your main aim and cut out any information that doesn't relate to it.
