Identifying the pollinators of Rhododendron species are of great interest due to the varied floral diversity and rapid evolution of the genera. But the pollinators of species in Rhododendron subgenus Hymenanthes section Pontica subsection Neriiflora are unknown. Bees are thought to be the pollinators of many Rhododendron species; however, species in subsection Neriiflora have ornithophilous floral morphology (Wu et al. 2005). I focused our study on R. floccigerum within Rhododendron subsection Neriiflora to determine the identities of visiting, pollinating, and robbing species through in-person and time lapsed camera trap observations and so on. Fieldwork was conducted in March 2012 in Weixi County, yunnan province, China. i compared floral morphological characteristics of R. floccigerum such as corolla length, corolla width at opening, and corolla width at base with visitor morphological measurements. Thirteen species observed visiting R. floccigerum (2 insects, 2 mammals, and 9 birds) and i determined that the following species are potential pollinators: Bombus sp., Aethopyga gouldiae Garrulax affinis, Heterophasia Melanoleuca, and yuhinia diademata. Further understanding of the pollination biology of species in subgenus Hymenanthes will allow for affective conservation as protection of the pollinating species is an important consideration for maintaining the natural evolutionary mechanisms that were shaped Rhododendron subgenus Hymenanthes.
