How do I organize citations?

Today I wanted to write about another important step in the pre-writing process. With around 680,000 papers published per year, keeping track of citations is a challenge. However, if you download a good citation manager this can help you immensely, especially when it comes time to track down citations for your manuscript. I use Mendeley Desktop to keep track of articles and search by author, topic, or title. This program also allows you to take notes, highlight text, and create folders. Other similar citation managers include Zotero, CiteULike, and Docear. For websites, you can try Diigo, which can cache webpages, and Instapaper. How do you save citations?
